Hi everyone,

It is a little sad, but we have to decomission the matrix server. Although it has been successful in terms of what we hoped to accomplish, ie provding support via tickets, tracking how many people were using G2D etc, it was exciting to see the amount of people using it.

As it stood, there were well over 4000 registered G2D servers, and even after cleaning house with old accounts, there was 1931 G2D servers around the globe being worked on as of yesterday. Increased bandwidth costs and other unforseen events pretty much are the catalyst, and if we want to keep on going, it's these sort of sacrifices we have to make. Thanks to everyone who supported it and helped us test what was a stable platform for commercial software registration. The problem being - we are not selling anything (yet) and due to the delay in development on G2Dx8, costs have sort of skyrocketed.

We own about 12 domain names that are currently in use, and also have to dump a few of those and hosting plans, in effect, it's downsizing.

Donations have been great and have pretty much kept this site up and running continuously for the past few years and will continue to do so, but as for running a server with thousands of active connections, really a VPS solution is in order and thats just not economically feasible right now, especially with christmas coming up.

Now there are some that did not like the matrix launcher system, and I would ask to refrain from re-iterating those comments here, we have had the argument before and you know you are the minority.

So, we will release a stand alone version of G2D soon, and when I say stand alone, I mean simply that the server will not need to be registered, you could download the engine and use it and we would never know about it. You wouldnt need to log into the matrix server, nor would you need to register the server, it would just run like a normal.

Ok so thats it, the matrix is now off and will not be reactivated. I apologise for any convenience, you can use trial mode OR if you have already registered your server before, you can run it directly from the EXE.

Hey Devo can you put the g2d x7 server on here so we can still use this product I have used it before but my pc came down with a nasty Virus and had to reformat. I hope the stand along gets out soon........

You can use the product in trial mode.

It keeps tell me to update my server... Then the server tells me that I haven't entered a key so I don't know what to do..... I have to re-download the software.....

What about for new members? From what i see i can't seem to find a register account so i can't even use trial mode?

You don't need an account to run the server in trial mode. I ran my server in trial mode for months before I actually registered it. If it is telling you to update and will not ket you use trial mode without updating then all I can really suggest is that you be patient and wait. Of course that is if you have tried what Devo and MutantX have said and you still can't get it to work.

Like the original post says the Devs are working on a stand alone version of the server. After 3 years of being part of this community I have learned that when the Devs say they are working on something and it should be out soon then that means it will be out soon. I have never seen them say they are going to fix something or change something and then never follow through with it, so just be patient. Not to mention Devo is going through and tough time right now so please have a heart and cut him a little slack.

VPS Solution eh?
I'm somewhat decent at building computers and what not.. So why not wait for me to build one powerful enough to run the Matrix on instead of the matrix dying :/
But I mean I can understand if you really just don't want it to come back up again.

I am a new user who wants to try out the software, so i download & extract it...carnt run the server directly,  carnt use the matrix because its decomissioned. This software is worthless unless i can actually run it, which i see no working way of.
