Hello Patient G2D members,

Many apologies for the delay in the updated R4, a few personal issues have hindered my time schedule in the past couple of weeks, but I'm glad to say that's behind me now.

With this year zooming ahead faster than a meth-addicted Cheetah (can you believe it's April already? wow...) Alot of the things that were promised to be out by this point obviously not.

What does April have in store for everyone?  Well there is alot going on, some may say too much - but there is a method to the madness in it all. While we have always remained a closed source engine, there still is a vacancy for an open source section here, and we have been discussing bringing back the Chaos Engine, which is primarily what the original G2D was based from. This is an open source 2D engine programmed by Xaden, and had been decomissioned for some time - but we have decided to bring it back (with limited support at first) to see if it becomes popular.

The Side Scrolling edition of G2D is basically on the back burner for this week, to try and get it ready while other things are being done would be detrimental to other projects, such as G2Dx8 and G2Dx7R4.

Currently my 110% focus is going into G2D v3R4 AND the AutoUpdater.

Please stop PM'ing me and posting threads about it, like a boiling kettle, watching it doesn't make it boil any faster, just like prodding me constantly doesn't magically make an Autoupdater appear.

Don't forget, this updater has to successfully monitor and update not 1 program, but all G2D executables, of which there are many now. Client, Server, XGE, Guideo - thats the main ones. So please, just know thats what i'm working on right this at the moment.

All remaining bug reports should hopefully be resolved in the next couple of days, there are a handful of bugs that I have found myself, that were never reported and I am also looking into those (title music etc needs tweaking)

Full bug-fix release log will be available soon, it's quite a big list.

Thanks for being patient, you will see some new content here soon!

thanks

The G2D Team.

Hmmm. An open source engine? Sounds interesting. I, myself, will likely not use it to develop a game with but I will probably use it to advance my programming skills. I just don't see the point to use it when G2D has (almost)everything needed. I'm assuming it would take a considerable amount of time to create the features G2D has so I'll stick with G2D.

As for the side scrolling engine I have to admit I am pretty anxious to play with it but I can wait. A bug free G2D is definitely a must and I would much rather see that first before anything else. G2D has come along way, much further then any other engine I have seen in the past few years, and it has been fun watching this engine and the community grow. I know I have said this a thousand times, and probably will a thousand more, but I want to thank you to Devo, Xaden, Mutty, and all the other Devs for their time and dedication. With out them my game, as well as alot of others I'm sure, would still just be an idea and not a solid start to something real.

I'm seconding Zetasis on that. I'm still writing up my game's quests and such on word documents, but still being part of this community made it the entire thing a possibility rather than a waste of time typing away. Thank you Dev team for the continued support even when our dumb selves make you want you want bring down the whole site lol.
